Acting for camera and Auditioning Technique – Once a Week Workshop

David Stejskal, member of the Casting Society of America and a head caster at Nancy Bishop Casting Prague office, offers once a week Workshop for actors in Prague.

Summary: Actors work on scenes in English and train both, delivering performance and character preparation. They are introduced to different techniques in auditioning for casting directors or in working on film.

Subjects/techniques included:

Analyzing scenes and characters;

Delivering performance for a casting director;

Cold reading at audition;

Communication with the director/casting director

Implying business/activity to enhance performance and character’s inner state;

Designing blocking, which is motivated by character’s inner state;

When working on film, finding the camera and delivering performance to it.

David Stejskal is the head caster in Nancy Bishop’s Prague office and a member of the Casting Society of America. He has worked on projects such as the TV series Knightfall, 12 Monkeys, Transporter, Crossing Lines or films Ophelia, with Naomi Watts and Daisy Ridley, and Unlocked, starring John Malkovich, Michael Douglas and Orlando Bloom. David wrote and directed numerous short projects, including commercial videos for brands like Haagen-Dazs, Arla Denmark and Nestea.

He is also an acting coach at Prague Film School and holds private classes.

David was trained as a film director at Northern Film School. His student film ‘Two Soldiers’ was in the official selection at the Manchester Film Festival 2012.
